Project Description

The Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit (LRT) Project is a major urban transit infrastructure initiative in Toronto, Ontario, forming a key component of Metrolinx’s Regional Transportation Plan for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA).

The project consists of a 19-kilometer light rail corridor running along Eglinton Avenue between Mount Dennis (Weston Road) and Kennedy Station. Approximately 10 kilometers of the alignment are located underground between Keele Street and Laird Drive, forming one of the largest transit tunnel projects in Canada.

The system includes 25 stations and stops, providing connections to bus routes, three Toronto subway stations, and several GO Transit lines, significantly improving mobility and transit connectivity across midtown Toronto.

Role & Responsibilities

Magnitvde’s Principal participated in the Eglinton Crosstown LRT project while serving in a previous role prior to founding Magnitvde.

In this capacity, the Principal supported the project team by contributing to design management and technical oversight activities during the project development phase.

Responsibilities included assisting with design due diligence and compliance verification, ensuring that design development aligned with project technical requirements, contractual obligations, and transit infrastructure standards.

The role also involved supporting the preparation and supervision of Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and coordinating technical inputs across engineering disciplines to support the development of a technically compliant design solution for one of Canada’s largest transit infrastructure projects.
