I-285 Top End Express Lanes

I-285 Top End

Georgia, GA, USA | FDOT

2024-Present | DBFOM

Project Description

The I-285 Top End Express Lanes Project is a major transportation infrastructure initiative designed to improve mobility along the northern section of Interstate 285 in the Atlanta metropolitan area. The project will add two barrier-separated express lanes in each direction along approximately 19 miles of I-285 between South Atlanta Road and Henderson Road, as well as 3.5 miles along SR-400 from south of the Glenridge Connector to the vicinity of the North Springs MARTA Station.

The new express lanes will improve travel reliability and reduce congestion along one of the region’s most heavily traveled corridors, traversing Cobb, Fulton, and DeKalb counties and including major system-to-system interchanges with I-75, SR-400, and I-85.

The improvements are part of Georgia’s Major Mobility Investment Program (MMIP) and will integrate with the Georgia Express Lanes network, connecting to existing express lanes on I-75 and I-85.
