Project Description

The North Tarrant Express (NTE) 35W Project represents the second phase of the broader North Tarrant Express managed lanes program in the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. The project involved the reconstruction, widening, and addition of tolled managed lanes (TEXpress Lanes) along approximately 10.1 miles of Interstate 35W in Fort Worth, Texas.

The project was delivered in two segments:

  • Segment 3A – a 6.5-mile section extending from I-30 in downtown Fort Worth to I-820, including the reconstruction of the I-35W / I-820 interchange and the addition of two managed lanes in each direction. The works included reconstruction of frontage roads, bridges, overpasses, ramps, and interchange improvements.

  • Segment 3B – a 3.6-mile section extending from I-820 north to U.S. 81/287, including the addition of two managed lanes in each direction and improvements to approximately 4 miles of the I-35W corridor.

The project forms part of the broader North Tarrant Express network, designed to improve travel reliability and reduce congestion along key commuter and freight corridors serving the Dallas–Fort Worth region.
